This role involves designing, developing, and running fast, scalable game services from conception through live operations, working closely with cross-functional teams including designers and production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable, highly available game services using Java, Spring, AWS, and Protobuf.
  • Collaborate with client engineering, design, and production teams to meet gameplay and project goals.
  • Implement security best practices to protect user data and prevent cheating.
  • Develop and execute automated testing, readiness testing, and deployment plans.
  • Monitor server infrastructure performance and costs, making improvements as needed.
  • Define API contracts in collaboration with game server and frontend teams.
  • Manage release operations and live operations of web services.

Key Technical Skills:

Java, Spring Framework, AWS cloud services, Protobuf, RESTful API design, Database design (MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL like Couchbase, DynamoDB), Automated testing & CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years developing scalable backend services.
  • Proficiency in Java or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with database design and handling large datasets in relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience defining API contracts and working collaboratively across teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience developing cloud-based games or game services.
  • Experience using Protobuf for data serialization.
  • Strong skills in technical planning, solution design, and implementation.
  • Familiarity with performance profiling and debugging scalable systems.
  • Passion for gaming and game development.
